PDF Bates Numbering — Stamp Tool for Lawyers ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension that stamps Bates numbers (e.g., SMITH-000001) onto PDF documents entirely within the user's browser, for use by US litigators, paralegals, and Discovery teams.
The Extension does not collect, transmit, or share any document content. Specifically:
The following user-configured data is stored locally on the user's device using the Chrome Storage API (chrome.storage.local):
SMITH-, ABC-, CASE001-)This data never leaves the device. Stamped PDFs are written directly to the user's local Downloads folder by the browser. The Extension does not retain copies of stamped output.
The Extension requests only the following permissions:
https://extensionpay.com/*) — A content script bundled with the Extension runs only on the ExtensionPay checkout domain, solely to open the payment popup and verify a one-time $39.99 Pro purchase. The Extension declares no broad host_permissions; the bundled content script is restricted to https://extensionpay.com/* for payment status detection and has no access to any other website. The Extension does not request <all_urls>, activeTab, scripting, tabs, or any other browsing-related permissions.
The Extension uses ExtensionPay (extensionpay.com) to process the one-time $39.99 Pro purchase and verify purchase status. Payment is handled by ExtensionPay via Stripe on the ExtensionPay checkout page.
No PDF content, file names, prefixes, or document data is ever shared with ExtensionPay. Only the information the user enters directly on the ExtensionPay checkout page (such as email and payment method) is processed by ExtensionPay/Stripe.
For ExtensionPay's privacy practices, see https://extensionpay.com/privacy.
Because the Extension performs all stamping locally and makes no network calls related to PDF content, it is suitable for handling documents subject to attorney-client privilege, work product doctrine, HIPAA, GLBA, and trade-secret confidentiality obligations. The Extension does not bypass, weaken, or alter any encryption applied to the original PDF; it operates only on PDF bytes loaded by the user into the popup.
Users remain responsible for compliance with applicable Rules of Professional Conduct, court-imposed protective orders, and information-governance policies of their organization.
The Extension does not load or execute any remotely hosted code. All scripts, including the PDF-lib library used for PDF manipulation and the ExtPay.js script used for payment status, are bundled within the extension package distributed via the Chrome Web Store.
The Extension is a professional tool not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone.
